Thank you Pune Municipal Corporation for the nice new footpaths

It feels good to finally be writing something positive about the Pune Municipal Corporation. Have you noticed the number of new footpaths being created and the resurfacing of some old ones?

The new footpaths opposite Deccan Gymkhana and BalBharti on Senapati Bapat Road, the resurfacing of the Bhanadarkar Road stretch are very heartening and reassuring changes.

Footpaths I think are the key to any city being well organized. The reason why Kothrud seems such a mess is the lack / absence of footpaths and trees by the road side.

I hope this is just the beginning of a PMC drive to create new footpaths and improve existing ones. Please also plant trees by the road and ensure that these nice new footpaths don’t end up being hawker zones.

The footpath are built and appreciative but who maintains the same is a big question. the money is spent on footpath but PMC needs to ensure it can be used for people to walk. Its seen at many places that the footpath are encroached by the shopkeeper and cycel mart to keep its goods for display, by hawkers to get free place to do business. If this is what the footpath is made for by public money then PMC please do not waste public money. I suggest a patrolling squad to be arranged by PMC to remove all encroachments. Heavy fine to be levied on the encroacher. On second instance of violation take away the shop license.

    Hi,
Pune roads are really hard to walk on. PMC is doing really a good job these days by widening the roads . But I would suggest the work should be geared up a little bit more since at times it creates so much mess and results in traffic jams. One such example I would say is at the Nagar Road it takes around 1 hour n sometimes even more to reach Kalyani Nagar from Kharadi bypass in the evening time .Widening of roads have been started since long back. It would be better if PMC makes people to work at nights and on weekends when traffic is bit lesser and whatever favour is needed from common people they can ask for through various medias. I hope someone from PMC reads this
