While I feel very sad and rattled by the developments, I also fail to make sense of them. I only have questions for the militants on [...]

With the new format, the city would benefit in many ways other than the obvious traffic benefit. The police would have a far easier time securing a few grounds. Adequate security will also get families and women actively participating in the event. Citizens can choose to be a part of the festival and not have the festival forced on them. Mandals will have to be creative to be able to stand out and shine. The city could generate employment and revenues in many direct and indirect forms. Some portion of revenues should be ploughed back into improvement of infrastructure at the grounds that are used. The event could become a major tourist highlight not just for Maharashtra
but for India.

I used to think that Amitabh Bachchan was a great role model for Indians. But his regular treks to temples across India are consistently eroding his stature in my eyes. Ref- Bollywood’s Bachchan walks barefoot to pray India is anyway full of religious fanatics and superstitious people who would believe and follow so called god [...]

In my previous post, I wrote about the absence of scientific temper in India and the need for those well informed, to voice their opinions against superstitions and customs that have chained our society. India today seems completely at the mercy of ill-placed faith. Instead of individuals standing on the shoulders of faith and rising [...]
